PADMANABHAPURAM PALACE
Padmanabhapuram palace (22 km from Nagercoil), once the seat of the
Travancore kings, is India's only palace made completely of wood (16th
century). It is situated at a distance of 45 Kms from Kanyakumari.

MATHOOR BRIDGE
The Mathoor bridge is the tallest as well as the longest trough bridge
in Asia, having a height of 115 feet. Constructed in 1969, this bridge
has became a place of tourist importance. The bridge has been
constructed at Mathoor across the river Parazhiyar and the trough
canal on the bridge carries water for irrigation from one side of a
hill to the other side of a hill. The trough has a length of 384
metre and a height of 7 feet with a width of 7 feet 6 inches. The
canal is being shouldered by 29 huge pillars. The district
administration has created tourism infrastructure facilities over
here. It is 60 kms from Kanyakumari

THIRPARAPPU WATER FALLS...
The water falls from a height of nearly 72 feet and the water flows
for about seven months in a year. The whole bed above the falls is one
rocky mass which extends up
to a distance of about quarter of a kilometer upstream where the
famous Thirparappu weir has been constructed for supplying water to
the paddy fields. On either side of the river, on the left bank of the
river in between the water falls and the weir, there is a temple
dedicated to Siva enclosed by strong fortification.

About 43 km. from Nagercoil this dam has been constructed.The length
of the dam is 425.1 mts. It has a catchment area of 204.8 sq.km. There
is a camp shed provided at the dam side for the visitors. The weather
is very pleasant and hence attracts a large number of tourists. The
reservoir is
surrounded by dense forests which
are famous for their valuable trees and rich wild life such as tiger,
elephants, deer etc. A hill tribe, small in number known as 'Kanikars'
dwell in the dense forests around the lake.

Travelling further to the top from
Manjolai, we visited the Kodayar dam.
Kodayar dam which is located in the
hills is noted for its wild view. The
two power houses in Kodayar-Hydro
Kodayar Power House I and Kodayar Power House II generates over 100
MW. Kodayar are surrounded by dense
forests with valuable trees and
wildlife constituting elephants,
monkeys, porcupine, snakes, wild
boars, deer and many birds. Over 42
species of tropical trees are found here.

Kalikesam, is a scenic picnic spot in the Kanyakumari district in
Tamil Nadu, India which is famous for its thick
forest and rubber
plantations. The Kali temple situated here
attracts many pilgrims.

How to Reach?
This place is some 35 km from Nagercoil. There are buses from
Nagercoil to this place but the
frequency is low, and the buses may
stop without notice. The best way to
visit here is with your own
transportation. There is no
transportation over here as well full of forest and lovely water streams also
lonely place the water will be crystal
clear and also the water has a good
medicinal effect..
